Wildlife Victoria has been at the forefront of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in Victoria since 1989. We are one of the largest wildlife rescue, care and rehabilitation organisations in Victoria that operates a comprehensive state-wide wildlife rescue network.

WHAT WE DO

The primary work of Wildlife Victoria is to assist wildlife that has been injured or displaced through human activity, road trauma (the other road toll), feral animals, tree felling, land clearing, pollution etc. Wildlife Victoria also assists in other areas of emergency wildlife rescue such as bushfires, floods, oil spills and the translocation and reintroduction of wildlife.
Wildlife Victoria also offers training and education programs to inform the community about the needs of wildlife, the importance of wildlife habitat and potential threats to wildlife and deals directly with the public through its rescue and information service.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES

Wildlife Victoria is a non-profit organisation funded solely through membership fees, donations, the proceeds from an opportunity shop and fundraising activities. The Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Fund is used for the rescue, rehabilitation and care of wildlife as well as research and education programs to aid wildlife and habitat conservation. Donations above $2 are tax deductible.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Wildlife Victoria runs forums for interested people wishing to learn more about wildlife, its care and rehabilitation and environmental issues in general. Wildlife Victoria, in collaboration with the Victoria University of Technology, has been instrumental in developing Victoria's first accredited training course for wildlife rehabilitators.

January 2007 News: Wildlife escaping the massive fires in Eastern Victoria are now facing a bleak and desperate struggle to find food and water. Wildlife Victoria are working with local authorities and land owners to supply supplementary feed via fooddrops for the animals that are living on the edge of the fire areas in the Gippsland area and the Alpine Shire. Australian landscapes can usually recover well from bushfire but this is a huge area of natural habitat lost. Some plant species will return rapidly with the rains but any recovery of the animal populations and ecosystem will be slow and may well be permanently altered. It is vital that the survivors of the fires are given refuge and support until their habitat begins to recover.
